One word to describe Anniza Gonzales: voluptuous. And because of her voluptuous body, her fiancé cheated on her and the woman he cheated with called her an ugly fat duckling. Hindi lang puso niya ang nasaktan kundi pati ang pride niya bilang isang babae.

Kaya ng gabing nalaman niya na niloloko lang siya ng kaniyang fiancé, pumunta siya sa isang bar at nilunod niya ang sarili sa alak.

That night, Anniza was so down, hurt, in pain and depressed, then she came across Dark Montero. The handsome bastard who shamelessly kissed her in front of so many people.

Sa sobrang kalasingan niya, naulit ang halik na nauwi sa mainit na pagtatalik. Saka lang niya na-realize na mali ang ginawa niya ng magising siya kinabukasan at wala na ang kalasingan niya.
So Anniza did the most reasonable thing to do. She ran.

At napatunayan ni Anniza na ang kasabihang ‘you can run, but you can’t hide’ ay totoo. Dahil kahit saan siya tumakbo, naroon si Dark at naghihintay sa kanya para akitin siya.

Maniniwala ba siyang iba si Dark sa manloloko niyang fiancé? Hahayaan ba niya ang puso na mahalin ang isang makisig at guwapong lalaki na alam naman niyang hindi bagay sa kagaya niyang ugly fat duckling? O babaguhin niya ang sarili niya para maging bagay siya rito?

Review

It’s been a VERY long time since I read anything from Cecelib, so I was really surprised that her Possessive series is still going strong! So when I saw this story in my FYP, I knew I had to prioritize reading it And as you can see in my rating above, I am so glad that I did!

Possessive 6: Dark Montero is just a short read like the rest of the books in this series. But even if it’s only a short read, it felt longer for me because it gave me everything I wish for in a story. There’s a conflict and an annoying ex and side piece, but if I will not add those annoying factors as well as the very very sexy love scenes, I could say that it was a light read overall. I guess that was also the big reason why I loved this story so much since I have been craving for short and light read lately, *wink.

Another thing worth mentioning is the plus size FL, which makes this story really relatable. It’s also a breath of fresh air since most main characters we have are described as beautiful paired with skinny bodies, that’s why I really like this story. It was also written quite a while ago so the standard at that time was different, so just beware of the waistline mentioned since I believe having that size is not considered plus size right now. But the idea is there, so it didn’t really bother me that much.

As for the main characters, I don’t have any complaints at all. The FL is a very relatable character. She’s constantly bullied because of her weight and size, and reading all of the things she had to hear and experience was really heartbreaking. I know having that fear of not being loved because of your size is hard to overcome, but I am so happy the FL pushed through with the help of the people who love her for who she is. It was great seeing her self esteem growing and finally accepting and loving herself.

The ML on the other hand is such a green flag. Ofcourse he has a dark side but I don’t think there’s a person in this world who doesn’t have one. Yes, his anger management issue is quite scary, but I can really see that he’s trying to control himself especially when he’s with someone who he cares about. I also love how hands-on he is in making the FL fall in love with him. Contrary to his name, he’s very sweet and loyal even if he’s hurt. I also love how he makes sure that there’s going to be no misunderstanding with the FL especially when it involves other girls. He also loves to remind FL that she’s beautiful and not fat every time she’s insecure of herself. I love that he’s the first person who helped FL to fully love herself and not mind what others say about her weight and size. Heck, writing this now makes me wish I could meet my own Dark Montero in real life too, hahahhaa.

Aside from the main characters, it was great seeing new and familiar characters in this story. There’s a lot of them mentioned here, which is really crazy considering it’s only a short read. And special mention to Dark Montero’s mother, Mama Nicola.  She’s a great role model to the FL when it comes to self confidence and body positivity.  I love how supportive she is to them and is always there for the FL. Heck, she even loves the FL more than she loves her son, lol. That said, I am praying that all of us ladies can have a supportive and loving mother-in-law like Mama Nicola in our life. Fingers crossed! See, I told you this story gave me everything I want, *wink.

As for the conflict, it wasn’t annoying at all. No unnecessary drama and I love the reconciliation. I’m not a big believer of fate and destiny, but this story made me believe it more. It was really heartwarming to read. My heart filled with so much joy reading how much they love each other.

That said, this one had a very satisfying HEA and a special chapter with their kids!!! It also has a chapter taken from the ML’s POV which is perfect! There’s more on Anthology: Nostalgia which I can’t wait to read soon! Btw, you can read this story standalone like I did, *wink.

Btw, this story has a lot of very hot love scenes, so be ready, hahahaha. But other than that, I believe this one’s a light read perfect for everyone. Possessive 6: Dark Montero is definitely one of Cecelib’s best stories. Highly recommended!
