Sa angkan ng mga tuso, kilala silang hindi basta basta. Pero paano kung sa kabila ng lahat ay siya pala ang mamamanipula ng sarili niyang nararamdaman? Delafuente’s are wellknown for being so tricky and worst, she ended up getting tricked by him.

Review

Tricked is the second book of the NGS series by Ineryss that I am currently obsessed with, hehehe. Compared to the first book, this one gave me such a rollercoaster ride of emotion. When I read the first few chapters of this story, I was so sure that I am giving this a 2-star rating, but when I finished it, I just realized that it atleast deserves a 3 star rating. My rating was solely based on what I felt about the story. The writing style, character building, plot, etc are not included. So yep, this is a review based on my emotion and not based on those technicalities.

For the start of the story, I was not a big fan. Heck, I almost tried to drop it. But since I want to see FL’s character development, I braced myself and decided to continue. And heck, I was really glad that I did. Because after the conflict, I’ve got to read FL’s fiery era. I was not a big fan of her personality even in book 1, but I was really invested with her character development. She really gave me a hard time in the early chapters, so I was really glad we were given a very satisfying new era of hers. It didn’t last long though, but atleast we got to see her not being so enslaved by her big love for the ML.

Looking at such a fiery FL, I was thinking so hard how the main leads will finally get back together. Our FL was so busy quarreling with the ML, that even if he deserves it, I still feel kind of bad, hahaha. I was so invested with their crazy interactions that I didn’t see such a surprising twist coming. I wasn’t expecting any of that ever! Because of that surprising twist, I can’t help but cry my eyes out because of the family drama. I especially feel so sad for the FL. It was such an emotional scene, and I was really hoping for her speedy recovery.

And luckily after all those crying, we’ve got to see some heartwarming and wholesome interaction between the main leads. It took them quite a while to get there and finally start anew, so everything they’ve experienced and endured definitely paid off.

For the main characters, I don’t like them both lol. I think both of them are red flags. Which I believe was one of the reasons why they weren’t able to have a calm relationship at the start. I think in order to fix that, they need to experience all of those things they’ve experienced to finally realize what needs to be fixed in order to have a healthy relationship.

For the FL, as mentioned, I wasn’t a big fan of hers. She’s so domineering and has a really sharp tongue. I also didn’t like how enslaved she was with her love. It was really degrading to read all of the things she did for the ML. It was kind of pitiful. Yes it might be a great thing that she gave her all in their so-called relationship, but seeing how her efforts were wasted was just so sad. She’s 5 years younger than the ML so I kind of understand the complications they might have to meet to make their relationship work. She was so passionate with love that she’s so jealous and insecure of everything. It was really painful reading those chapters. I also hated how she handled her broken heart. It was soooooo stupid. It was understandable because she gave her everything to their relationship that after being hurt, she is left with nothing. She was so blinded by betrayal and hurt that she wasn’t able to think critically. Well, considering her background, I think I kind of understand why. A lot of things happened to her, so it was not hard to be invested with her character growth.

The ML on the other hand, I believe is a jerk. I didn’t see it at first, but as I read further, I realized that he’s also a red flag. He’s 5 years older than the FL so I really believed that he should have been able to handle their relationship well. He tried to think about distancing from her at first since he’s already 20 while she’s still a minor. But this dude wasn’t able to restrain himself from giving mixed signals to the FL. So ofcourse the FL at that time believed that he also liked her. He also has a hot and cold personality in the start of their relationship making the FL even more confused. Heck, it even took them 4 years to finally make their relationship official. If the FL wasn’t so forceful about it, I bet it would have taken many more years for him to finally confirm their relationship. Ofcourse I understand his point, but dude, please don’t give false hope to the FL if he’s not ready to commit yet. He’s so busy working for their future that he forgot who he’s doing it for. He neglected the FL so much, and now that he is finally putting in effort to their relationship, it’s already too late. But in all fairness, his character grew. He finally reflected on his past mistakes and is now ready to love the FL the way she deserves.

As for the side characters, they are pretty much the same from book one. I also love the bardagulan between the FL and Zera, lol. It was great seeing the development of their friendship.

Another thing you have to keep in mind if you decide to read this story is the age gap. I am ok with the 5 years age gap, but it’s another thing if the other party is still a minor. There were a lot of sweet interactions between the main leads, but it was kind of disturbing to read that while the FL is still a minor. Well, we have a timeskip so everything is finally great after that. Also, there’s cheating here that just like me, you will find disturbing. It was not dragged too long though and there’s a lesson in the end.

Also, reading this story gave me a lot of realizations not just about relationships but also about life. I also liked reading Tres being a good father to the FL. Unlike the previous story, we were given a different kind of parenting which I really appreciate. I think he’s the best father in this series as of yet.

Btw, I just found out that what I’m reading right now was from the third generation, so their parents and grandparents have their own story as well. Right now I am already invested with the current generation so I’ll probably just continue with this series first. Although it would be better to read the old one so I can relate more, but right now I am already invested in this series, so maybe next time.

Speaking of the series, I think this story can still be read standalone without reading the first book or even the first generation first.

And lastly, just like the previous book, this one also has two special chapters taken from the ML’s POV and an epilogue. No proposal like the first, but it already gave the idea that they are getting there.

If you are looking for a very relatable story, then Tricked by Ineryss is highly recommended!
