Review

I love reading father-daughter stories, so when I saw this one, I knew I had to read it. Am I Your Daughter? is a heartwarming story of Hailynn finally achieving happiness after experiencing hell in her first life.

First life? Yep, aside from being a heartwarming father-daughter story, this also contains regression. Hailynn’s first life was so sad. So when she woke up one day and found out that she went back in time, she was determined to change her life. It was a struggle since she was still a small kid, so while reading, you can’t help but really root for her. She was mentally 18 years old, but still acts like a child. I think it was mainly because she was locked up all her life, but sometimes it was hard not to get annoyed. I really wish she could have grown up to be a really strong character (considering what she went through), but almost at the end, we got to see a cool and quite cruel side of her. Which, I have to say, took me by surprise lol.

I think it was mainly because the flow of the story got messed up. It feels like they just add more conflicts to make this story more exciting? But instead of making me feel that, I was instead confused, lol. In all fairness, it has potential but the execution was not enough. It was too bad because the start of the story was really good. I guess it started to go haywire in the last season.

Aside from the story, another thing I noticed was the art. The start of the story has a very cute and bright art. I love that they put so much effort on Hailynn’s dresses, especially on the details. The character designs were also great, that I even find the villains good looking, lol. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to keep that up, because at the later season, it felt that the art was downgraded, especially on the last season. Too bad, because this story has so much potential.

Another thing to take note is that this story also has romance. I actually like the relationship between the main leads. I love how their friendly relationship progresses to a romantic one, which I think had a perfect pacing. It was also funny seeing her father being so overprotective of her making the ML work extra hard to win not just her heart but also her father, wahahaha. Eventhough I like the romance, I think this manhwa would still be good even without one. I think just hinting at romance would be enough because Hailynn’s journey on changing her life and building a relationship with her father is already a good story. I think it would be good to create a new manhwa focusing on romance between the leads. It would be a great idea considering its ending. But either way, it was still a good read overall. I just wished they would have worked more on the story flow close to the ending.

Too bad it got confusing and her character changed there at the end. The idea of her going back in time and starting her life over sounds fun.
