Review

The Queen is just a very short read but I genuinely enjoyed reading this one. It’s been years since I read The Selection which is the first book of this series, so I was a little confused while starting this story. I only got the hang of it when I found out that this is a story about Prince Maxon’s parents.

I honestly don’t remember them from book 1, hahaha, aside from the fact that they’re the current King and Queen lol, but I really enjoyed reading about their own selection and how they came to be. That said, I would like to review this story separately from the other books in this series.

Amberley

I don’t usually like submissive heroines, but it’s hard not to like her as a person. You can tell instantly that she is nice just by looking at how she treats her attendants and how she interacts with her fellow contestants.

Just like the other girls, she is also vulnerable and fairly weak but it was really interesting to see how she had grown from that.

Clarkson

I don’t think I was able to know more about his character in this novella. Everything I learned about him is all generic – he’s handsome, courteous, and rich. But I really like his interaction with Amberley and how he chose her to be his queen despite her health issues.

*

Through Amberley’s point of view, you can already imagine the two of them to have a very promising future together. After finishing this novella, I just can’t help but feel all the love in the world. Sounds really cliche, but that’s what I felt at that time hahaha.

The Queen is definitely a wonderful addition to the series, and if you want a bit of extra knowledge and backstory, I would recommend it to fans.

That is interesting that the author went back in the past and told the King and Queen’s Selection story.
