Review

I know I said I’ll tone down my obsession with manhwa, wahahaha, but the premise of this one is too tempting to pass up. Besides, it’s a sin to pass up a revenge story, don’t you think so? *wink.

Iris: The Lady and Her Smartphone. I have to say that the title doesn’t give me a good feeling that I will enjoy this story but after reading the premise, I braved it out. And I’m glad that I did! This manhwa is a combination of revenge after returning from the FLs tragic past plus a memory of her past life on earth. Which explains the smartphone, *wink.

I love revenge stories, but I hate to read the parts about their abuse. Good thing it didn’t show a lot of those cruel things that happened to the FL. Only some tidbits. It’s only a little, but it was still quite hard to read. It was just too cruel.

The revenge on this one didn’t happen overnight, which is obvious because it will make this story unrealistic if that happens. Even if that was the case, I am sure readers will love reading how the FL accumulated power to make her revenge happen. The FL is the real definition of someone who works really hard to achieve her goal despite the hardship. Unlike the past, this time she has some people who are there to help her, but it was really proud seeing how the FL didn’t just rely on them but also worked hard for herself.

This manhwa is also under the romance genre, but I think it was more heavy on the revenge part. But even if that was the case, this manhwa still didn’t disappoint me with the romance. It’s not more on the romance, but everytime there’s a hint of romance between the leads, I can’t help but squeal in delight. The leads are just too cute and I love how their romance progresses. I am so invested with this story’s revenge so I didn’t think I would end up enjoying the romance too, so that’s definitely a plus! There were also no annoying romance conflicts (like cheating or annoying exes), except for this certain annoying fanatic that thinks the ML belongs to her just because she had feelings for him.

As for the characters, FL is one of those strong independent FLs in manhwa that us readers would like to read. After what happened to her in the past, I was really glad to see how she transformed herself. She’s very tough and wise. She was a true picture of a woman who makes all of her goals come true through hardships.

As for the ML, hmmm, all I could remember is that he’s handsome, wahahaha. So sorry. It’s just that, all of my focus was on the FL because she’s so outstanding. Oh, it’s also nice to note that he was a loving husband and only loved the FL til the end.

I would also like to mention that there were a lot of amazing side characters here as well in which helped and supported the couple <3 I always view side stories/epilogue as important in my manhwa because this is the time for the side characters to shine, giving us a chance to know them more. Sadly for this manhwa, we only got 8 huhuhu.

Since this is a revenge story, it’s expected that the antagonist will boil your blood. This story doesn’t have just 1 antagonist but a lot. But the final boss was really so annoying. So seeing her end was so satisfying to read. Finally!. After thinking of all the things that happen, it’s kind of sad how things ended like that.

Iris: The Lady and her Smartphone is definitely a great read! Long manhwas don’t always click with me, but this one made me read it until the end without losing my interest. Well, I guess it’s also because this one is already completed. Waiting for updates is usually the biggest reason why it loses my interest, *wink.
