For small-town rebel Dani Webber magic and monsters are no more real than the Easter Bunny… until the day she accidentally stops time. Dani quickly discovers that not only do supernaturals exist, but she herself is one of them. This is great news for her life-long best friend Russ, who can finally come clean about his own supernatural status and his undying love for her. Before the two can start to enjoy the long overdue relationship, Dani is taken by a powerful council of supernaturals who believe she is the Chosen One destined to save them from extinction.

As if being kidnapped and expected to save the world isn’t bad enough, an ancient prophecy warns of the Chosen One’s dark nature: “Only the truest love will keep her an agent for good.” The council believes they know who this “true love” is and, unfortunately, that person isn’t Russ. The mysterious, powerful and devastatingly handsome Seer is the last person Dani wants in her life, but when she starts having visions of a horrific future, she has no one else to turn to for help.

Soon Dani finds herself torn between two very different boys with two very different opinions of whom she can trust. With the visions getting worse and time running out, Dani is forced to put aside her feelings and work with both the Seer and Russ before an ancient evil is unleashed upon the earth.

Review

I don’t really have any idea who Kelly Oram was until one day, a friend of mine introduced her books to me. I was doubtful at first, but I came out of my comfort zone and signed up to her blog’s newsletter. And I am so grateful that I did. I’ve been a fan of the hit TV series, The Vampire Diaries and The Originals and was really drawn into it. So I was hopeful that this book would have that same effect on me. And viola, my wish was granted! This book is so intense that I deprived myself of sleep. I love the thrill and also love the idea of adding romance into it.

I may not say them boldly, but I’m a hopeless romantic chick, and any small romantic scene would easily swoon me off my feet. And just by starting this book, it already got my heart. It was so beautifully written and I’m so in love with the plot. The witches, warlocks, vampires, and a lot more in just one book. Now, who wouldn’t love that?

I always thought of love triangles as too cliché, though this book is like that, it was still surprisingly enjoyable to read. I don’t really have a favorite between Russ and Gabriel, but both of them made me feel like a teenage girl who’s in love. Before I start reading this story, I accidentally bump into a super spoiler review in goodreads, so I already know who Danielle would end up with. But what caught my curiosity, is how their love story would be executed. Reading their love story made me feel like I am reading a thriller book from Mary Higgins Clark wherein I am guessing who the real culprit is. Haha, I was that attentive when it comes to the main character’s love story part.

Normally, I would end up liking Russ, because of the idea of him being the bad guy. Why? Hello! Every girl loves a bad guy. Good guys are somewhat boring, but Gabrielle is far from being one. Oh my! The more I read this book, the more I am starting to like Gabrielle’s character. <3

I really love the book. The plot is amazing and the characters we’re so easy to keep track of. And not to mention, easy to grasp terms were used in this book. But the only complaint that I have in this book is having its fair share of confusing scenes, and also, I just thought the ending ended too easy for me. While reading the ending, I was like, “is that it”? But it wasn’t really that bad, the stars above would be the evidence *wink.

My overall experience in this book is amazing! I am really looking forward to reading the second book. Wooot!

P.S. Would like to extend my gratitude to the talented author, Kelly Oram for sending me the copy of all 3 books in the Supernaturals series. <3
