Her new husband is about to realize that hell hath no fury like a woman transformed….

Review

It’s been so long since I read a book 😅 I’ve been so addicted to manhwa and now with wattpad lately so my attempts to read a book always ends up a disappointment. That was until I tried this book, The Marriage Mistake by Jennifer Probst, which is my first time reading from the author. I can’t recall how long this book has been sitting idle in my kindle, so right now I’m still disappointed in myself for letting it sit that long untouched!

This book started with the FL doing a love spell. Just as the name implies, it’s a spell that will help her find her ideal husband. All she needs to do is to write the qualities of a husband that she wants on paper and then throw it in the fire. But in her case, she wrote on her paper the name of the man that she likes instead. I thought for a second that this is going to be a romance fantasy, but the title doesn’t fit it, so I was quite concerned but very curious, lol. And luckily, my curiosity didn’t disappoint me, *wink.

I’m usually not a big fan of dual pov in my books, but reading other stories especially in wattpad made me appreciate it now. And luckily this book gave me a dual pov that didn’t disappoint. The shifting of pov was done well, it wasn’t confusing at all even a bit. I also love that the ML’s pov didn’t look forced to sound like a real man’s pov. Everything just feels right and perfect for me.

For the romance, I’m not a big fan of the girl falling in love with her brother’s best friend, plus they are also childhood friends. The FL loved the ML since she was young but he always sees her as a little sister, and she doesn’t like that. She tried so hard to see him as a woman, but as expected, she ended up getting hurt in the end. Years later and they finally saw each other again with her finally being a full fledged adult. Based on their pov, I can really see the instant attraction which both of them are trying so hard to fight. After that, I was really entertained reading their banter, lol. The FL can be such a savage at times leaving the ML (and sometimes me) speechless, lol. I’m not a big fan of how everything went on between the two, but still thankful that they’re finally together right this time. I also got a tear or two when that happened, especially when Maggie (her sister in law) was giving birth. It was such a heartwarming scene, and I love seeing the ML finally realizing that he’s in love. What happened at first may not have been ideal, but what matters is how they moved past it and finally confirmed each other’s feelings.

For the characters, I’m not a big fan of the ML hahaha. He’s got an issue because of his family background and I tried to justify his actions one or two times, but after that, I got annoyed. He just doesn’t learn eh. I understand that he has a lot to lose but he’s an effing billionaire for goodness sake. I also didn’t appreciate his half-assed proposal to the FL, she really doesn’t deserve that. Well, no one does! I’ve been keeping my temper in check until he FINALLY fought for her and realized his feelings. Took you long enough dude!

As for the FL, I really liked her. She can be a bit of a pushover and a people pleaser, but I really appreciate her kindness and her love for animals and food. She’s strong and very confident too, which I really appreciate a lot. I also love how flirty and smart-mouth she is to the ML hahaha. I just love how she fights when she knows she’s right and accepts accountability and responsibility when she’s at fault. I am also happy that in the end, she finally pursued what she wanted to do and got the happy ending she deserves.

Also, I was taken aback by the conservative take on relationship and romance in their town, but I’m thankful because of that, they got married and finally realized that they are meant to be together, *wink.

There’s also an epilogue but there’s no baby yet. But it gave me more excitement for the next story, and I’m hopeful we get to see the FL and ML’s baby soon in there hahaha.

This is the third book of the Marriage to a Billionaire series, but you can still read it standalone. There were some important appearances of the couples from the previous books, but they are very easy to get to know and like. Just like me, I’ll bet you’ll be checking their stories too once you tried this one out, *wink.

The Marriage Mistake by Jennifer Probst is highly recommended!
