I’ve been seeing Skip Beat in the list of anime recommendation on my myanimelist account for quite a while now but I’m not sold just by looking at its cover photo. Then one day I saw it’s trailer in youtube and ended up liking it! And yep, you should never really judge a book by its cover, *wink.

Story

I love revenge plots. Eventhough I’m not a fan of celebrity romances or something similar, I was surprise to find out how I am enjoying this anime. As early as its first episode, I was already laughing my heart out because it was so funny. Most revenge plots are cliché, but what I like about Skip Beat is that it will leave you laughing your heart out while at the same time cheering for the girl to go for it. And not just that, I also enjoyed the love-and-hate relationship between the two leads which most of the time leaving me rolling in the floor laughing haha.

There were some life lessons as well so that’s definitely a big plus.

Characters

I actually like the female lead. She was dumped and yes her reason why she entered showbusiness was wrong so I’m definitely one of those people whose glad that she was able to find her passion and eventually learned to love acting like it’s a natural thing for her. Aside from that, I also enjoyed learning about the male lead. He was portrayed as this “perfect” actor who can’t seem to not do anything wrong but as the story progresses, we’ve got to see the other side of him.

The side characters were fun to watch too which some of them will give us one or two lessons to ponder upon.

Graphics

It was surprisingly bright and the facial expressions were always epic. Though the character design isn’t that spectacular for me, I still think it was good. Also, some of the character designs kind of remind me of Junjou Romantica, haha.

Overall

The manga counterpart of Skip Beat is still ongoing so the ending may be a bit of a letdown, but it’s absolutely giving us a vibe that we’re going to see something great soon, *wink. So if you’re looking for a good anime to binge watch this weekend, look no further and try out Skip Beat!
