Nevada Frida Baylor and Connor Ander Rogan cordially invite you to join their wedding celebration.

Summoning, weather manipulation, and other magical activities strictly forbidden.

Catalina Baylor is looking forward to wearing her maid-of-honor dress and watching her older sister walk down the aisle. Then the wedding planner gets escorted off the premises, the bride’s priceless tiara disappears, and Rogan’s extensive family overruns his mother’s home. Someone is cheating, someone is lying, and someone is plotting murder.

To make this wedding happen, Catalina will have to do the thing she fears most: use her magic. But she’s a Baylor and there’s nothing she wouldn’t do for her sister’s happiness. Nevada will have her fairy tale wedding, even if Catalina has to tear the mansion apart brick by brick to get it done.

Review

4 books down, and I am still in love with this series.  Diamond Fire effortlessly took my 5-star rating. For a novella, that definitely speaks a lot, *wink.

It started off with Nevada’s POV in which she is so nervous about meeting her future mother in law. And then continued by Catalina – Nevada’s sister – which is a nice transition as the next lead figure.

This book focuses on Catalina and her type of magic which she works so hard to stay hidden as it is dangerous to her. She has to use it in order to solve a crime and save Nevada’s wedding. Just like Nevada, I really enjoyed Catalina’s investigation. These Baylor women are such badasses you can’t finish this book without getting fascinated by them. This is only the start, and I can’t wait to see what more she could do in the next instalment.

I absolutely enjoyed this story. It was only a very short read but it felt like a complete long story to me. Ilona Andrews was able to fit the character building, world build-up and an interesting story in just this 160 pages story. Novellas can be a hit or miss for me but Ilona Andrews proved that they can perfectly deliver.

Fans of Urban Fantasy can never go wrong with this series.
