The night I met Drew Jagger, he’d just broken into my new Park Avenue office. I dialed 9-1-1 before proceeding to attack him with my fancy new Krav Maga skills. He quickly restrained me, then chuckled, finding my attempted assault amusing.
Of course, my intruder had to be arrogant. Only, turned out, he wasn’t an intruder at all.
Drew was the rightful occupant of my new office. He’d been on vacation while his posh space was renovated. Which was how a scammer got away with leasing me office space that wasn’t really available for rent. I was swindled out of ten grand.
The next day, after hours at the police station, Drew took pity on me and made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. In exchange for answering his phones while his secretary was out, he’d let me stay until I found a new place. I probably should have acted grateful and kept my mouth shut when I overheard the advice he was spewing to his clients. But I couldn’t help giving him a piece of my mind. I never expected my body to react every time we argued. Especially when that was all we seemed to be able to do.
The two of us were complete opposites. Drew was a bitter, angry, gorgeous-as-all-hell destroyer of relationships. And my job was to help people save their marriages. The only thing the two of us had in common was the space we were sharing. And an attraction that was getting harder to deny by the day.
Review
I know I will like this story the minute I read the first chapter. It was so entertaining and the chemistry between the characters is so palpable. I don’t know about you, but this story reminds me so much of Wallbanger by Alice Clayton. Don’t get me wrong, both books don’t share the same plot but they share the same character. Ok, that doesn’t sound right wahahaha. What I mean to say is that both books have the same HOT hero with a very smart mouth.
Speaking of characters, let’s talk about them first.
Drew Jagger. Yep, that name alone sounds sexy already right? Wahahaha. I actually love his character. I love that he can be sweet and an as*hole at the same time, but a good kind of as*hole, if you know what I mean, wahahaha. But what I love more is how much he loves his son. Ok, I don’t want to spoil you but it’s hard not to include that one, he may be a jerk during the conflict part, but no one will definitely say that he’s not a great father.
Emerie Rose. I actually love her character and she’s a funny one too which makes her a great pair for Drew. Definitely no bitter bone for this chic considering her background and I love that the author makes her character relatable to Drew’s situation.
As I’ve said a lot of times now hahaha, I love this story. I love that entertaining start and I’m so happy that the author is so consistent. That being said, I absolutely love the writing style. This is definitely not going to be my first and last book from the author, *wink.
I have no complaints about the progress of the main characters’ relationship too. I think it was well done – it wasn’t so fast and not too slow either. Every scene they are together, if not hot, was so entertaining to read. I can’t count how many times I laughed by heart out because Drew is really such a handful he is spreading it to his son already hahahaha.
The only thing I hate about this story was the conflict and that b*tch (which explains the missing half star). I don’t want to say more or I’ll share another spoiler.
And lastly, that ending is just beautiful. After all the characters went through, I can’t think of another scenario to end this story.
