Father, I Don’t Want This Marriage is a transmigration and regression story that executes the genre exceptionally well! After seeing it everywhere in 2023, I held off reading until it was fully completed. It took a while to finally get to it, but it was well worth the wait!
The Premise: Rewriting a Tragic Fate
Reincarnated as Juvelian, the notorious villainess of a novel, our main character knows her original fate ends in tragedy due to severe misunderstandings with her father, Duke Regis. To survive, Juvelian resolves to break off her engagement, avoid the tyrannical Crown Prince Max at all costs, and live a quiet, peaceful life funded by her father’s fortune.
Naturally, nothing goes according to plan.
Comedy-Driven Misunderstandings Done Right
Miscommunication can often make a story frustrating, but this manhwa embraces it as its primary source of comedy.
- The Overprotective Father: Duke Regis desperately tries to express affection, but his stoic nature leads Juvelian to misinterpret his protective moves as life-threatening threats. Watching them completely misread each other creates top-tier comedy.
- The Secret Identity Dynamic: Juvelian takes in an “abandoned cat” who is actually the Crown Prince, Max, in disguise. Their contract dating arrangement and Max’s inner turmoil as he falls for her lead to constant, hilarious situations.
Character Growth & Dynamic Comedy
- Juvelian: Watching her transform from a fearful, misunderstood noblewoman into a confident lead who stands up to opportunistic high-society figures is extremely satisfying.
- Regis & Max: The chaotic dynamic between the overprotective father and his former disciple-turned-suitor is easily one of the best parts of the series.

The visual art is stunning, featuring elaborate outfits, expressive faces, and gorgeous colors. A fun bonus: the creator includes hilarious meme panels at the end of the chapters, adding a unique, playful touch that fans will love.
