Story

If you search about this anime online, you will instantly guess that this is about skateboarding. And me without any sports blood at all, I wasn’t really after the thrill of skating but I got really intrigued with the characters. I’ve been seeing this anime all over facebook and seeing how fans are pairing some characters together, I knew I have to watch it myself, hahaha. And tada!

I actually enjoyed it much to my expectations. I liked how the two main characters first met and then instantly became bffs. I don’t think it was abrupt at all and I also think that the pacing of the story was really good. The thing I enjoyed about sports anime is their camaraderie and sportsmanship. But for this anime, aside from the thrill every time Langa skates, another thing I love about this one is their friendship. And it wasn’t all just about the good things but also the bad, which I think was pretty realistic.

Opening and Closing Theme + Songs

I absolutely love both the opening and closing scenes. The opening is so cute at the beginning but becomes really catchy and cool as you proceed, plus I believe that the song is just perfect for it.

The ending on the other hand is simple compared to the opening, but it’s still very cute. And I’m so in love with the song as well.

I definitely have to create a lyric video of these two songs soon.

I actually like the character design. Each character doesn’t just have a diverse selection when it comes to their personality but I also think that their design suits them well too. And speaking of characters, I really think that Cherry looks so pretty in his skating attire and Miya is super cute too. I also love Langa’s appearance as well. It’s just a perfect look for his mild personality.

And speaking of characteristics, I genuinely like the main characters in this story. I love how enthusiastic Reki is and how much he loves skateboarding.

Langa on the other hand is the opposite of Reki. Langa was a transfer student from Canada, he and his mother came back to Japan after his father died. Langa is not always cheerful and sometimes just keeps to himself. But his life changed after being friends with Reki and then learned to love skateboarding.

The side characters too were very likeable and fun to watch. And not just that, they all look eye catchy too. No wonder why a lot of viewers love them.

The only character that I wasn’t fond of at all is Adam. I just think that he’s very creepy and weird. Even after watching a bit of his backstory, I still think he’s a total creep, lol.

Voice Actors

As usual, the Japanese dub for this one is really good and I think they all suit so well with the characters.

I actually watched the first episode in an English dub and I thought it was pretty good too and the VA for Adam is pretty accurate. It’s almost hard not to hate his character, lol.

Conclusion

I’m sure most of you found this anime on a yaoi recommendation or yaoi group online (particularly in fb), but let me tell you this hahaha. Seeing that this anime is more on sports, you can’t definitely see some characters kissing or being lovey-dovey, but. Yes, there’s a but hahaha. If you’re a fujoshi, you can definitely see some parts in here that you can’t help but squeal in delight. I can’t elaborate more on this, but if you finally decide to try this anime, always look out for Langa, Reki, Cherry and Joe, *wink.

***

If you’re looking for a light watch but with a very lovely animation and bright design, you’ll definitely be in for a treat with SK8 the Infinity.

Neat that you came across a fun anime set against the world of skateboarding, but it didn’t matter if you were into it. The character drawings really do look distinct which is always a great thing and I’m glad it hooked you from the start.
