Have you started a book series but weren’t able to finish it yet? It could be because the author hasn’t published the next book yet. Or maybe because another book took your fancy and you took a detour. I’m sure a lot of us have been there. Well, for my end, I took A LOT of detours and it was a shame because most of these series I’ve started 3 or more years ago, lol.
So for an attempt to remind myself to finish what I started, I decided to list down these series and hopefully I could finally pick them all up.
1. Hidden Legacy by Ilona Andrews
I absolutely love this series and the last book I’ve read was Wildfire last 2018. I remember the next book is set to be published next year, but I had a really busy 2019 so I never got the chance to follow up on this series.
It’s a shame but atleast now I’ve got books 4, 5 and some mini stories to binge read while waiting for book 6 to be published.
2. Scorpius Syndrome by Rebecca Zanetti
I read the first book in this series last 2018 and I remember how I loved that book. It was a long time ago so I can’t remember why I didn’t read the next book sooner. I am still recovering from my yaoi addiction, so for now I’ll make sure to get myself copies of all the books in this series and hopefully I could finally start with them before this year ends.
3. After the Cure by Deirdre Gould
I’ve read the first book of this series a very long time ago but I can still remember how this one surprised me. I’m still so hung-up with the mystery/suspense genre at that time so I am always very hesitant to try other genres, but this one took me by surprise and made me want to read more. Unfortunately, as you can see, it’s already 2021 but I still haven’t finished this series lol.
4. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
After reading my review of book 2, I keep on asking, why?! Why did it take me years to realize that I haven’t finished it yet lol. Haaaay!
5. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
Just like the others, I also lost track getting a copy of the final book of this series. I should really start getting serious with my list, lol.
6. Raven by J.L. Weil
I remember that this series has been one of the few supernatural stories I really enjoyed. Not following this series after finishing that first book is still beyond me. Why?!
7. The Selection by Kiera Cass
To be honest, the reason why I decided to take this series was because of the lovely cover and its overwhelming popularity. I did enjoy it but the love triangle discouraged me after reading book 1. I was still planning on finishing this series, but I had to sit on it to forget the bitterness of the love triangle. But I can’t believe it will take so many years lol.
8. The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
I remembered that I wasn’t that impressed after reading the first book. I think it was because I expected too much, but even if that was the case, I was still interested to try the next book and see if I will like it enough to finish the whole series.
9. Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard
One of my girls has been so obsessed with the show that got me so interested in trying the book. But it wasn’t until one of my co-workers (who read this series and loved it) recommended it to me that I decided to finally get it started. Unfortunately, I didn’t like the first part and the characters were not that likeable so I also had to postpone reading the 2nd book. And yep, as you can see, many years have passed but I still haven’t started on the next book, hahaha.
10. Elemental Ninjas by Mon D. Rea
This series combined Naruto and Avatar: The Last Airbender together and as an anime fan, I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, when I started the 2nd book, it was painstakingly slow that I got bored and decided to drop it.
Years have passed, I realized that it was a shame. The idea was really interesting, so I really want to give this one another try.
11. Caster Chronicles by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
I watched the film adaptation but didn’t really enjoy it. This series was recommended by a friend so I decided to give it a try. The first book was a bit slow for my taste, but I really love the spooky vibe.
After reading book 1, I decided to change pace for a while and get back to it later. But as you can see, I still haven’t gotten on with it lol.
12. The Trials of Apollo by Rick Riordan
I’ve been binge reading Rick Riordan’s series last year but stopped after reading the first book of this series. This time, it focuses on Apollo instead of the demigods and it was a hilarious read. I was only planning on pausing this series for a month, lol.

Weew. That’s A LOT. Hopefully just like I did with my anime, I will also be able to get on with this list and read ¼ of them before this year ends. Goodluck to me, lol.
How about you, do you have any series you haven’t finished yet?
Oh yes, I have the same problem. I’ve got so many series I need to pick up the next book and read it. In fact, one is the last book in that Rebecca Zanetti series. 🙂
It’s just hard not to took a detour especially that there’s so many good books out there too, hehehe
